Anesthesia Residency Program

Education 3.jpgDalhousie University offers a five-year training program that is fully accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. During our most recent accreditation (2006), the program received maximum approval for a six-year period.

Each year the Anesthesia Residency Program receives approximately 200 applications from Canada, the United States and around the globe for its residency positions. The calibre of applicants and the candidates who are ultimately selected is a testament to the quality of the program delivered and its education, research and clinical opportunities.

The Department of Anesthesia’s residency program relies on committed faculty members who work side-by-side with residents, treating them as colleagues and supporting them to become highly skilled, competent and compassionate anesthesiologists. Our residency training program is one of the most robust in Canada, producing superior clinicians, researchers and educators who are leaders of tomorrow.
